Islamabad — Zong 4G, Pakistan’s leading data network, in collaboration with ZTE Corporation, has announced the first commercial launch of a 3G & 4G dual-mode FDD Massive MIMO solution featuring the industry’s first 480W high-power design. This breakthrough positions Pakistan at the forefront of mobile network innovation.
The solution supports both 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands for 4G services while maintaining 3G support on 2100 MHz, ensuring compatibility with current user needs and readiness for next-generation evolution.
Field trials conducted with Zong showed impressive performance gains:
- 140%+ increase in network capacity
- 270%+ improvement in user experience
By deploying this advanced technology, Zong can repurpose existing remote radio units (RRUs) and antennas for other sites, maximizing return on investment while accelerating network modernization.
Looking ahead, Zong and ZTE are preparing for large-scale deployment of the enhanced solution by integrating AI-powered intelligent computing cards in the baseband unit (BBU). This will further boost capacity, enhance efficiency, and deliver superior customer experiences.
