Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Asiri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency, took part in the “Golden Dome: Data and Artificial Intelligence” forum organized by Space News magazine in partnership with leading U.S. technology firms. The event focused on harnessing advanced data and AI to strengthen global space security.
The symposium explored the U.S. Department of Defense’s Golden Dome initiative, which seeks to build an intelligent space defense system. The program integrates vast streams of satellite and sensor data across global networks with predictive AI, enabling the identification of threats and autonomous real-time decision-making. It also incorporates advanced data-processing capabilities to ensure operational resilience and rapid response in isolated environments.
In his remarks, Dr. Al-Asiri underlined the importance of international cooperation: “Major initiatives like Golden Dome represent a qualitative leap in protecting strategic interests in space. Bahrain is keeping pace with these developments, applying such technologies in peaceful projects that support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals while complying fully with international standards.”
He noted that Bahrain’s participation in such forums reflects its commitment to keeping abreast of strategic and technological developments, offering a clear long-term vision for a sector undergoing rapid change.
Experts at the forum discussed the future of autonomous systems, predicting a major shift by 2030 towards AI-driven operations, which will be essential for countering cyber threats against space infrastructure. Participants also highlighted the urgent need for international legislative frameworks to regulate the use of emerging technologies, ensuring they are deployed responsibly for the benefit of all.
