The Electronic Government Division of the Smart Zambia Institute (SZI) has rolled out Starlink satellite internet kits in Moomba Chiefdom, one of the most isolated areas in Kazungula District’s Game Management Area.
This initiative is a key step in Zambia’s push to bridge the digital divide by extending reliable, high-speed internet to underserved rural communities. With connectivity in place, residents can now access online government services via platforms such as Zamportal, fostering more inclusive digital participation.
Critical community institutions including Moomba Rural Health Clinic, Choonzo Primary School, and Kalamba Primary School have been connected, ensuring improved healthcare delivery, enhanced learning opportunities, and stronger local governance.
Smart Zambia highlighted that the project aligns with its mission of delivering secure and dependable digital infrastructure. By ensuring rural communities are part of the country’s digital transformation, the government aims to enhance service delivery and drive socio-economic development through technology.
