Kuwait Launches “Kuwait Skills” Initiative with Microsoft to Strengthen AI and Cloud Capabilities

Kuwait City — November 2, 2025:
Kuwait has unveiled a nationwide digital skills initiative, developed in collaboration with Microsoft and the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), to equip citizens with advanced expertise in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and Microsoft Copilot tools.

Driving a Digital Workforce

The program, titled “Kuwait Skills,” aligns with the country’s New Kuwait 2035 Vision, aiming to build a digitally empowered workforce and accelerate national transformation through technology. The initiative complements Microsoft’s ongoing investment in Kuwait, including the planned AI-powered Azure cloud region announced earlier this year.

Omar Al-Omar, Minister of State for Communications Affairs, said the initiative underscores the government’s ambition to create an integrated digital ecosystem that enhances efficiency across the public sector and fosters innovation-led growth.

“Empowering Kuwaiti professionals with advanced technical skills is essential for positioning Kuwait as a leader in the digital and knowledge economy,” he stated.

Building National Digital Capacity

According to Microsoft’s Charles Nahas, Regional General Manager for the Middle East, the initiative will train:

  • 30,000 public-sector employees,
  • 4,000 technical experts, and
  • 350 government and business leaders on AI and cloud technologies.

It will also enable over 100,000 users to adopt Microsoft Copilot tools through a newly established Center of Excellence with CAIT.

Nahas emphasized that the collaboration represents “a holistic transformation” — providing participants with access to global education pathways, industry-recognized certifications, and career development opportunities, while expanding Kuwait’s cybersecurity resilience and digital economy.

Empowering Innovation and Sustainability

The initiative will be monitored through quarterly performance reports, assessing training impact and progress in national digital capacity. Al-Omar urged all government entities to actively participate, reaffirming Kuwait’s commitment to developing a generation capable of leading the nation’s AI-driven digital transformation.
