Barcelona/Dubai, November 2025 — Satellite IoT operator Sateliot has joined forces with Spain-based Datakorum to accelerate the deployment of non-terrestrial 5G (NTN 5G) connectivity across the United Arab Emirates, with a focus on extending smart metering and monitoring capabilities in oil, gas, and water pipeline infrastructure.
The collaboration centers on leveraging Sateliot’s 5G NB-IoT satellite constellation to connect Datakorum’s devices and systems in remote and challenging environments. The two companies are conducting a proof-of-concept to validate seamless handovers between terrestrial and non-terrestrial 5G networks — a critical step toward ensuring consistent, reliable data transmission in areas with limited connectivity.
Sateliot noted that the UAE represents a high-potential market for 5G IoT adoption, with projected service value reaching $1.7 billion by 2030. The partnership aims to demonstrate how satellite-enhanced IoT can close coverage gaps, enabling real-time insights for sectors like energy, water management, and smart infrastructure.
By integrating satellite and terrestrial systems, Datakorum will strengthen its connectivity-as-a-service offering, empowering organizations to achieve greater operational efficiency and resilience.
“Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of IoT,” said Gianluca Redolfi, CCO of Sateliot. “The UAE is a key strategic market, and this partnership shows how our technology delivers real-world impact.”
Rafael Martinez, R&D Director at Datakorum, added that non-terrestrial 5G will be instrumental in eliminating connectivity blind spots and accelerating digital transformation across the region.
