Saudi Arabia Launches Quantum Network Alliance to Drive Secure Communications and Innovation

Riyadh, November 2, 2025 — The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has unveiled the Saudi Quantum Network (SQN) Alliance, a groundbreaking national initiative aimed at positioning the Kingdom as a global leader in quantum communications, cybersecurity, and advanced technologies.

The alliance brings together prominent national and international partners, including Cybrani (a subsidiary of Aramco Digital), Salam, Microsoft, and Cisco, to establish an integrated ecosystem for developing secure communication networks and quantum-based technologies in Saudi Arabia.

Eng. Ibrahim Alshadokhi, CEO of KACST’s Internet Services Unit, emphasized that the SQN Alliance serves as a national collaboration model between government and industry, enabling pilot development of quantum networks and fostering homegrown expertise.

With participation from the Saudi Research and Innovation Network (Maeen) at KACST, the initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, supporting national goals in research, development, and innovation. Through real-world deployments and integration with national research and education networks (NRENs), the alliance aims to transform the Kingdom into a global hub for quantum innovation.

Launched during International Internet Day at KACST, the Saudi Quantum Network Alliance highlights the Kingdom’s forward-looking commitment to technological leadership and future sciences at both regional and international levels.
