Nairobi, November 5, 2025 — Kenya is fast-tracking the rollout of 100,000 kilometers of fiber-optic infrastructure, 25,000 public Wi-Fi hotspots, and a nationwide network of digital hubs, underscoring the government’s commitment to accelerating connectivity and inclusive digital growth through strong public-private collaboration.
At a meeting held at the Ministry Headquarters, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau met with Dr. Andile Ngcaba, renowned African technology investor and founder behind major infrastructure projects such as SEACOM, Africa’s first undersea fiber-optic cable system.
The two discussed Kenya’s National Connectivity Programme, a flagship initiative under the Digital Superhighway component of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Their dialogue focused on expanding broadband access, empowering local communities to manage digital infrastructure, and enhancing public-private coordination to scale national digital access.
Hon. Kabogo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to “creating an enabling environment for private sector investment,” emphasizing that accessible and high-quality data services are key to achieving digital inclusion and economic empowerment across the country.
The meeting reinforced Kenya’s ambition to position itself as a regional leader in digital infrastructure, leveraging fiber expansion and community-driven connectivity to fuel innovation, competitiveness, and shared prosperity.
