Ericsson and Batelco Expand Bahrain’s 5G Network to Drive Digital Transformation and Innovation

Bahrain’s 5G network is entering a new phase of expansion as Ericsson renews its partnership with Batelco to strengthen the Kingdom’s digital infrastructure and connectivity. The agreement, signed during the Gateway Gulf Investment Forum, underscores Bahrain’s ambition to lead in next-generation communications and support the nation’s growing demand for high-speed digital services.

The 5G expansion project will extend coverage across residential, commercial, industrial, and hospitality zones, including key areas such as Diyar Al Muharraq, Salman City, Bahrain Bay, and Ras Zuwaied. The rollout promises faster, more reliable mobile connectivity that will enhance user experience for both individuals and enterprises.

Ericsson will deploy its latest Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies, incorporating advanced radios, optimized power systems, and eco-friendly battery solutions. These innovations are designed to improve network performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability while reducing hardware complexity and carbon footprint.

The partnership also includes a modernization of Batelco’s cloud infrastructure, enabling greater scalability, agility, and support for emerging technologies such as IoT, 5G Advanced, and AI-driven operations. This cloud upgrade will empower Batelco to deliver smarter services and bolster Bahrain’s role as a digital hub in the region.

Batelco’s CEO noted that the collaboration reinforces Bahrain’s vision for a robust, innovative, and high-performing 5G ecosystem, providing seamless connectivity and fueling the country’s digital economy.
