Wateen Telecom Limited has announced the renewal of its Long Distance International (LDI) license by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for a 20-year term. The signing ceremony in Islamabad was attended by senior officials from both organizations, marking a major milestone for the company’s long-term growth strategy.
The renewal follows Wateen’s successful resolution of the Access Promotion Contribution (APC) matter related to the Universal Service Fund, which was formalized by the Sindh High Court on October 22, 2025, with endorsement from PTA and the Ministry of IT and Telecom. This achievement reaffirms Wateen’s commitment to advancing Pakistan’s ICT sector and maintaining full regulatory compliance.
With its expansive fiber optic network, Wateen continues to strengthen Pakistan’s digital backbone, supporting the transport of IP and voice traffic nationwide and enabling the infrastructure critical for 5G deployment. CEO Adil Rashid emphasized that the renewed license validates Wateen’s operational excellence and its dedication to empowering CMOs, enterprises, and government institutions through robust connectivity and digital transformation.
The milestone also highlights Wateen’s leadership and institutional resilience, setting it apart as a forward-looking telecom player at a time when other LDI operators continue to face regulatory challenges.
