BTRC to hold public hearing on telecom services on Nov 25

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will hold a public hearing on November 25 to gather complaints, feedback, and recommendations from consumers, telecom operators, professionals, and other stakeholders regarding the quality of telecommunication services in the country. The session will begin at 10:00 am at the BTRC headquarters in Dhaka’s Agargaon Administrative Area and will also be accessible online.

According to a public notice, participants must register by November 19 through the commission’s designated link. Only submissions directly relevant to telecom service performance or regulatory issues will be approved, and eligible participants will receive login details via email and SMS.

BTRC hearings typically focus on recurring consumer issues such as call drops, mobile data quality, unsolicited SMS, broadband performance, and SIM registration challenges. During the last hearing in December 2022, the regulator received more than 1,500 complaints—primarily related to slow mobile internet speeds and poor customer service. Telecom operators were instructed to strengthen network coverage and ensure fair billing practices.

The upcoming session is expected to provide updated insights into consumer sentiment and help guide BTRC’s regulatory decisions on service quality, operator accountability, and broader improvements in Bangladesh’s telecom sector.
