Egypt: DALTEX partners in launch of world’s first AI agricultural engineer ‘ORTH’

Egypt-based Aydi has raised $7.5 million in a pre-seed round to launch ORTH, the world’s first AI-powered agricultural engineer—ushering in a new era of smart farming and digital agriculture. The funding round included major regional and global investors, led by Daltex Corporation alongside COTU Ventures, Nuwa Capital, Magrabi Agriculture, and Foundation Ventures, reflecting strong confidence in the project’s global potential.

ORTH is designed to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing farmers worldwide, including soaring production costs, climate uncertainty, and limited access to professional agronomists. Using advanced machine-learning algorithms, the platform provides precise recommendations on irrigation, fertilisation, and pest control—helping farmers make faster, data-driven decisions that enhance yield and reduce resource waste.

The AI system supports global food security goals, particularly the international objective of increasing food production by 70% by 2050 to meet rising population demands. Daltex said its investment aligns with its long-term strategy to accelerate agricultural digital transformation in Egypt and internationally, especially in areas like water efficiency and sustainable resource management.

ORTH made its global debut at the Fruit Attraction Exhibition in Madrid, drawing strong praise from experts and early adopters. Farmers from California, Romania, and Uruguay tested the platform and highlighted its real-time analytics, ease of use, and potential to revolutionise agricultural practices.

Backed by significant investor support, Aydi plans to expand ORTH’s reach across continents, positioning the platform as a transformative tool for smart, sustainable, AI-driven farming worldwide.
