Nepal Telecom (NTC) has been awarded as the highest value-added tax (VAT) paying company in Nepal for the period between fiscal years 2076–2082, according to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). The recognition was presented during National Tax Day 2082 at a ceremony in Kathmandu celebrating top corporate taxpayers.
The IRD also honored the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) as the highest income tax–paying enterprise, reaffirming the telecom sector’s significant contribution to Nepal’s national revenue. Several companies across key industries received recognition for their tax performance, including Verisk Nepal Pvt. Ltd. in information technology, Soaltee Hotel in tourism, Nobel Medical College in health and education, and Bhatbhateni Super Market for commodity trading.
Additional honors were awarded to major contributors in farming, banking, energy, and remittance sectors, demonstrating the IRD’s broader effort to acknowledge compliance and encourage national economic growth. Officials noted that Nepal Telecom remains one of the country’s most profitable state-owned enterprises with strong and consistent VAT contributions over the years.
