Etihad Selects Viasat Amara to Power Next-Generation In-Flight Wi-Fi Across Entire Fleet

Etihad Airways has announced a major expansion of its long-standing partnership with Viasat, confirming that the airline will deploy Viasat’s next-generation connectivity platform, Viasat Amara, across its entire fleet. The rollout reflects Etihad’s commitment to delivering a premium digital experience with fast, reliable, and seamless in-flight Wi-Fi for all passengers.

The upgrade will cover both widebody and narrowbody aircraft, including the carrier’s new Airbus A321LR and upcoming A350 fleet—both of which will feature factory-installed Viasat systems. The new installations will complement the Boeing 787 Dreamliners already equipped with Viasat hardware. Amara will leverage Viasat’s global Ka-band satellites, partner satellites, and future LEO partner networks to deliver consistent connectivity, even on high-traffic routes.

Passengers on Etihad flights will be able to stream content on their personal devices, access their digital subscriptions, browse the internet, shop online, use social media, and watch Live TV on seatback screens. The partnership ensures a frictionless, high-speed experience designed to match modern expectations for digital access in the air.

Etihad says the move aligns with its strategy to offer a world-class hospitality experience enhanced by robust digital services. Viasat Amara provides airlines with scalable, multi-orbit connectivity, flexible business models, and powerful digital tools to curate personalized passenger journeys. Both companies highlight that this agreement positions Etihad to stay ahead of technological innovation for years to come.
