Aramco and Pasqal Deploy Saudi Arabia’s First Quantum Computer

Aramco, in partnership with Pasqal, has successfully deployed Saudi Arabia’s first quantum computer — and the Middle East’s first quantum system dedicated to industrial applications. The system, installed at Aramco’s data center in Dhahran, marks a historic milestone for the region’s emerging quantum ecosystem.

Powered by Pasqal’s neutral-atom technology, the quantum computer represents a major step toward building regional expertise and accelerating the development of quantum solutions for the energy, materials and industrial sectors. The initiative aligns with Aramco’s strategy to integrate advanced digital technologies that enhance efficiency, unlock innovation and create long-term value.

Ahmad O. Al-Khowaiter, Aramco’s EVP of Technology & Innovation, said the deployment strengthens Aramco’s position as a technology leader applying AI and digital tools at scale. Pasqal CEO Loïc Henriet described the installation of the company’s most powerful quantum computer to date as a landmark moment for the Middle East and a breakthrough for practical quantum capabilities.

Wa’ed Ventures—an early investor in Pasqal—has supported the company’s localization efforts, enabling it to establish operations in Saudi Arabia and contribute to the Kingdom’s quantum development goals.

The installed system can control 200 qubits arranged in programmable two-dimensional arrays, making it suitable for advanced quantum algorithms and real-world industrial use cases. As part of the partnership, Pasqal will provide training programs and joint research opportunities for Saudi engineers and scientists, strengthening national talent and supporting the growth of a quantum-ready workforce.
