Aramco and Pasqal Deploy Saudi Arabia’s First Quantum Computer, Marking a Historic Regional Milestone

Aramco, in partnership with Pasqal, has successfully deployed Saudi Arabia’s first-ever quantum computer — and the Middle East’s first quantum system dedicated to industrial applications. Installed at Aramco’s Dhahran data center, the neutral-atom quantum computer is a major leap forward for the Kingdom’s technological ambitions and its goal of becoming a global innovation hub.

The deployment supports Aramco’s strategy to integrate advanced digital technologies across its operations, enhancing efficiency and unlocking new industrial use cases in energy, materials science, and large-scale optimization. For Pasqal, the installation represents its most powerful quantum computer to date, capable of controlling 200 qubits arranged in programmable 2D arrays.

Aramco executives emphasized that the partnership accelerates the adoption of AI, quantum, and next-generation computing within mission-critical operations. Pasqal’s leadership hailed the deployment as a defining moment for the Middle East’s quantum future.

Wa’ed Ventures — Aramco’s venture capital arm and an early investor in Pasqal — has played a key role in localizing quantum capabilities in Saudi Arabia. The collaboration includes training, joint research, and talent development programs to build a robust quantum ecosystem in the Kingdom.
