e& UAE, the telecom arm of global technology group e&, has announced the successful completion of the world’s first IP+DWDM dual-800GE innovation trial — a breakthrough that strengthens the UAE’s digital infrastructure and accelerates the adoption of advanced technologies including 5.5G, cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence.
The UAE technical team carried out full end-to-end testing of the dual-800GE solution across an 800G DWDM optical transport layer, simulating the real-world environment of EMIX, e& UAE’s regional internet exchange platform. EMIX provides critical IP transit services that connect internet service providers across the Middle East.
According to Khalid Alkhaja, Vice President of Business & IP Core at e& UAE, the trial confirms that increasing network capacity does not require greater complexity or higher energy consumption. The dual-800GE solution delivered cleaner transmission, reduced latency and improved cost efficiency, while AI-enabled optimisation matched energy usage to traffic demand.
Test results validated high-quality 800GE transmission and significantly lower IP packet latency. The system’s integrated AI capabilities enable real-time traffic prediction and dynamic energy-saving adjustments, making the network greener and more efficient. The convergence of 800GE and AI forms a strong foundation for the evolution of AI-driven wide-area networks (AI WAN), enabling faster, more sustainable and intelligent connectivity for consumers, enterprises, and carriers.
