Touch Strengthens Network Capacity Ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s Historic Visit to Lebanon

Telecom operator Touch announced a series of major network and service enhancements ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Lebanon from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, as the country prepares for large crowds across multiple locations. The measures were implemented in coordination with Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj.

Touch confirmed that it has deployed four mobile MBTS stations at Beirut’s waterfront, where the Holy Mass will take place on Dec. 2, along with a fifth station in Martyrs’ Square. Voice and data services have been reinforced nationwide, with expanded network capacity designed to handle the surge in traffic expected during the visit.

Technical teams have also upgraded coverage in all key locations the Pope is set to visit, including Annaya, Harissa, Bkerki and the Presidential Palace—where 5G service will be available for the event.

To support visitors and residents, Touch will open customer service centers in Jounieh, Jbeil and its Beirut headquarters on Dec. 1 and 2. Its Beirut Airport service point will operate exceptionally on Sunday, Nov. 30. The company is also launching a special $1 package offering one hour of calls and 3GB of data between Nov. 28 and Dec. 2.

Karim Salim Salam, Chairman and General Manager of Touch, said the operator has mobilized all its capabilities to ensure high-quality communication services throughout this national occasion.
