stc Bahrain has introduced the kingdom’s first VAT-Free shopping initiative in the telecom sector, in partnership with the Planet VAT Free programme. The initiative allows eligible tourists to claim VAT refunds on cash purchases made at stc retail stores across Bahrain.
The service applies to non-residents — including GCC nationals — departing via Bahrain International Airport or Khalifa Port. Visitors who spend BD100 ($263.5) or more on devices and accessories can obtain a VAT refund tag in-store and redeem their refund at Planet VAT Free counters before departure.
Designed to create a seamless and transparent refund experience, the initiative enhances Bahrain’s appeal as a convenient and visitor-friendly destination, while driving more footfall to stc retail outlets — particularly during high tourist seasons.
Chief Commercial Officer Karim Tabbouche said the collaboration allows stc Bahrain to extend its value proposition internationally, offering “world-class service and meaningful savings” to travellers investing in telecom products during their stay.
The initiative further strengthens stc Bahrain’s position as a customer-centric leader, aligning with the kingdom’s ambition to elevate its tourism and retail ecosystem.
