Starlink Connectivity to Reach Schools in Bangladesh’s Hill Districts Under New BSCL Agreements

Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL), the authorised reseller of Starlink, has signed three separate agreements to deploy satellite internet across primary and secondary schools in Khagrachhari, Bandarban, and Rangamati. The initiative aims to close long-standing connectivity gaps in the hill districts and support digital learning for students in remote areas.

Under the agreements with the three hill district councils, schools will gradually receive Starlink terminals. Once activated, students will gain reliable high-speed access for online classes, digital content, and virtual learning — opportunities often unavailable in the region due to challenging geography and weak infrastructure.

BSCL officials stated that improved connectivity will help integrate remote learners into mainstream education and support the government’s long-standing commitment to digital education in the hill tracts. Starlink terminals have already begun arriving at several schools, with installation work underway.

The agreements were signed in the presence of BSCL Managing Director and CEO Muhammad Imadur Rahman, GM (Sales & Marketing) Shah Ahmedul Kabir, district council officials, and project engineers. Rahman noted that the initiative represents a major step toward improving learning outcomes and building a more skilled future generation through technology.

Starlink, which officially launched in Bangladesh on May 20 after receiving its operating licence earlier this year, will initially provide terminals to 100 schools, with a target of 450. The district councils will cover service expenses.
