Amazon Egypt Expands Storage Capacity as Demand for Essentials and Local Products Surges

Amazon Egypt has expanded its national storage capacity to more than 100,000 cubic metres in response to rising demand for essential goods and a growing boom in locally manufactured products. The expansion includes its main fulfilment centres in 10th of Ramadan City and on the Suez Road, supported by several additional partner-operated sites. One of the newest facilities alone offers storage space equivalent to ten football fields, reflecting Amazon’s long-term investment in Egypt’s digital and logistics infrastructure.

Omar Elsahy, General Manager of Amazon Egypt, said shifting consumer behaviour amid inflation and currency volatility has driven strong growth in demand for food and basic household products. At the same time, locally manufactured goods across apparel, homeware, and personal accessories have seen a sharp rise in quality and availability, strengthening Egypt’s e-commerce ecosystem.

Amazon has integrated hundreds of Egyptian factories and SMEs into its seller network through partnerships with chambers of commerce and government-backed programmes. The company has also expanded flexible payment options through partnerships with banks and fintech firms, offering instalment plans, buy-now-pay-later services, and zero-interest financing during major sales events.

Since launching in Egypt in 2021, Amazon has worked closely with the government to support financial inclusion, logistics development, and digital transformation. Elsahy said Amazon’s expansion strategy is built around future demand over the next three years, with every decision guided by one core principle: serving the customer first.
