Beyon Submits $1.5bn Digital City Bahrain Master Plan for Government Approval

MANAMA — Sat, 06 Dec 2025

Beyon has formally submitted the comprehensive master plan for its $1.5 billion Digital City Bahrain project to the Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA). The announcement was made during Gateway Gulf 2025, in the presence of Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Beyon Group, along with senior officials from both sides.

The submission marks a major milestone for the flagship development, which will be located at Beyon’s headquarters in Hamala. The project reflects Beyon’s vision to create a next-generation ecosystem for technology, research, innovation, and digital enterprise in Bahrain.

The master plan outlines a fully integrated development that brings together commercial, educational, and R&D zones with lifestyle infrastructure such as retail outlets, hotels, healthcare facilities, and residential apartments. The project also includes around 70,000 square metres of landscaped open spaces, advanced urban infrastructure, and integrated mobility solutions.

Faisal Al Jalahma, Chairman of Digital City Development Company, said the project is designed as a human-centered, smart-enabled environment where businesses and communities can thrive together, supporting Bahrain’s goal of building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready economy.

Eng Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Khayat, CEO of UPDA, stated that the master plan aligns closely with Bahrain’s National Urban Development Strategy. He added that cooperation between the authority, Beyon, and project partners ensures the development will integrate seamlessly with national infrastructure and support sustainable urban growth.

The submission initiates the formal regulatory review process and sets the stage for detailed design standards and enabling works. The project is expected to play a central role in accelerating Bahrain’s transition toward a knowledge-based digital economy.
