IBM and stc Group have expanded their long-standing partnership to enhance Saudi Arabia’s telecom infrastructure against emerging quantum-era cybersecurity threats. As part of this collaboration, stc has adopted IBM’s quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions to assess and reinforce its existing data protection and encryption systems, ensuring readiness for a future in which advanced quantum computing could compromise traditional cryptographic safeguards.
The initiative has resulted in the development of a quantum-safe security framework designed to identify and mitigate cryptographic vulnerabilities before they emerge. By integrating quantum-resistant cryptographic tools, advanced protocols, and strong governance practices aligned with NIST standards, the framework embeds security at the core of stc’s operations while enhancing its ability to adapt to evolving cyber risks. This positions stc as a regional leader in secure, future-ready telecommunications.
Abdulaziz A. Alaqil, CSDM Excellence and Engineering General Manager at stc Group, said the collaboration is focused on future-proofing the digital ecosystem and protecting clients as quantum technologies rapidly advance. He noted that the partnership ensures access to the most comprehensive quantum-safe solutions available.
Khaled AlOfaysan, Country Head and Managing Partner at IBM Consulting Saudi Arabia, said IBM is committed to supporting leading innovators in the Kingdom and expressed pride in advancing the Saudi telecom sector toward quantum-safe readiness alongside stc.
The collaboration reflects both organizations’ shared commitment to strengthening Saudi Arabia’s national cybersecurity resilience and digital infrastructure. It also supports the Kingdom’s broader investments in quantum technologies, talent development, and regulatory frameworks aligned with Vision 2030, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position at the forefront of post-quantum digital security.
