The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) for the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan, following a comprehensive regulatory review. The approval allows PTCL to move forward with the transaction, subject to the completion of all legal and commercial formalities.
According to PTA, the assessment focused on the deal’s potential impact on market competition and consumer interests. The authority also consulted relevant government institutions to ensure full compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
PTA stated that both PTCL and Telenor Pakistan are required to ensure uninterrupted service quality and strict adherence to all license obligations throughout the transition period. The regulator added that it will closely monitor the process to protect consumer rights and preserve a competitive, future-ready telecom market in Pakistan.
