The UAE has unveiled a new national scholarship programme aimed at developing future leaders in artificial intelligence, in partnership with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). Guided by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, the initiative will begin with the 2025 academic year and is designed to nurture high-potential undergraduate students with strong capabilities in mathematics, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Around 350 students are expected to benefit from the programme over the next six years following a rigorous selection process aligned with the country’s long-term technological ambitions. In addition to full financial support, scholars will gain opportunities to represent the UAE on global technology platforms and participate in the development of innovative, high-impact ventures.
MBZUAI highlighted that the scholarship is built around an interdisciplinary education model that combines technical AI training with ethics, leadership, and business studies. Students will also gain access to advanced research facilities, industry placements, and expert mentorships to prepare them for senior roles in the global technology sector. The initiative further strengthens the UAE’s ambition to build a world-class pipeline of AI specialists and digital innovation leaders.
