Huawei, Tunisia’s CCK Host Seminar to Advance Smart Education and Telemedicine

China’s technology company Huawei and Tunisia’s Computing Center of Al-Khawarizmi (CCK) have jointly held a seminar in Tunis focused on strengthening smart education and telemedicine services. The event brought together policymakers and technology leaders to discuss how emerging digital technologies can support Tunisia’s education and healthcare systems.

Tunisian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mondher Belaid said the world is witnessing an unprecedented technological transformation driven by artificial intelligence, big data, advanced digital platforms, cybersecurity, and next-generation infrastructure. He noted that Tunisia intends to leverage these technologies to enhance higher education, scientific research, healthcare services, digital public administration, food security, energy transition, and overall economic competitiveness.

Saoussen Krichen, Director General of CCK, highlighted that cooperation with Huawei has had a significant impact on Tunisia’s technological ecosystem. CCK plays a central role in providing internet services for the country’s higher education and scientific research sectors.

Feng Qiyou, President of Huawei Cloud Northern Africa, said Huawei and CCK have jointly launched North Africa’s first cloud platform dedicated to education and scientific research. The platform currently supports more than 450 educational and research institutions and serves 14 universities across Tunisia, enabling scientific collaboration, online learning, and resource sharing.

He added that artificial intelligence applications deployed on the platform are already being used for AI-powered medical imaging screening, improving the efficiency and reach of telemedicine services across the country.
