Honor has inaugurated its first smartphone manufacturing plant in Bangladesh, marking a major step toward local production in one of South Asia’s fastest-growing device markets. The facility, located at the Hi-Tech Park in Kaliakair, Gazipur, was launched on December 2 in partnership with Smart Technologies. Smartphones assembled at the plant will carry a “Made in Bangladesh” label and combine Honor’s global AI-driven manufacturing systems with local production capabilities. The factory currently operates a single production line with a daily capacity of 1,500 units of the Honor X6c, with plans to expand operations further. Government representatives at the inauguration highlighted the role of local manufacturing in boosting smartphone adoption and strengthening Bangladesh’s digital ecosystem.
