The parties explore cooperation opportunities in advanced weapons, counter-UAS solutions and space technologies
▪ 4iG Space and Defence Technologies Zrt. (4iG SDT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Northrop Grumman Corporation.
▪ The cooperation with one of the world’s top five defence manufacturers aims to explore opportunities for joint projects and industrial collaboration in the fields of counter-UAS solutions, advanced weapons technologies and space solutions.
▪ The MoU provides a framework for the parties to undertake a coordinated assessment of their respective business, technological and manufacturing capabilities and discuss opportunities for collaboration. These discussions could potentially include the topic of localisation of manufacturing and industrial activities in Hungary, with potential access to European defence markets.
Northrop Grumman is a global aerospace and defence company, specialising in research, development, manufacturing, integration and sustainment of the world’s most advanced armaments, aircraft, missile defence systems and space systems. The global company is at the forefront of precision-guided weapons technologies, including the development of advanced guidance, control and fuse solutions that enhance the accuracy, reliability and mission effectiveness of modern smart munitions.
“Advanced weapons technologies of Northrop Grumman – including GPS-enabled guidance solutions for smart munitions and highly manoeuvrable, high-accuracy projectiles – represent some of the most advanced capabilities in modern warfare. These systems not only enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of precision firepower, but also have the potential to open new industrial and technological opportunities. The cooperation currently under preparation can create an opportunity to strengthen Hungary’s role in the field of precision fire support and intelligent weapon systems, while enabling the Hungarian defence industry to contribute to the future development of these advanced technologies,” said István Sárhegyi, CEO of 4iG SDT.
One of the objectives of 4iG Space and Defence is to strengthen Hungary’s role in the development of next-generation, NATO-compatible defence capabilities. The Memorandum of Understanding provides a framework to explore how 4iG Space and Defence capabilities and Northrop Grumman expertise can contribute to future NATO-compatible defence systems development. The parties believe that Hungary can increase added value within the modern defence technology ecosystem through industrial preparation of technologies and localisation of manufacturing activities with integration into European defence markets.
