Batelco by Beyon has entered into a strategic agreement with Cisco to modernize its IP backbone infrastructure, strengthening the foundation for next-generation, AI-driven network operations across Bahrain. The agreement was signed by Batelco Chief Technology Officer Rashid Mohammed and Cisco Managing Director for Service Providers in the Middle East and Africa, Zayan Sadek, in the presence of Batelco CEO Maitham Abdulla and senior executives from both organizations at the Beyon Campus in Hamala.
Under the collaboration, Cisco will deliver advanced networking capabilities, including intelligent routing, automation, and assurance and monitoring tools. The upgrade is designed to enhance network performance, resilience, and scalability, improving service quality for Batelco’s mobile, fixed, and enterprise customers throughout the Kingdom.
The modernized IP backbone will also establish a robust platform for AI-powered network operations, enabling greater automation, efficiency, and operational intelligence. Batelco said the enhancements will support future technologies such as 5G-Advanced, 6G readiness, Internet of Things (IoT), network slicing, and cloud-native service delivery, aligning with Bahrain’s broader digital transformation agenda.

Zayan Sadek, Managing Director for Service Providers at Cisco MEA, said the partnership demonstrates Cisco’s commitment to helping service providers evolve toward automated, intelligent networks that deliver greater efficiency, scalability, and innovation.
