The Children’s Paralympic Games were held at the Sumgayit Paralympic Sports Complex under the supervision of the Social Services Agency of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population. The event was organised by the National Paralympic Committee with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Azercell Telecom.
This year’s edition was staged on an expanded scale, bringing together 130 young Paralympic athletes from across the country. Participants competed in eight sports disciplines, including para judo, para table tennis, para taekwondo, para swimming, para powerlifting, para badminton, para archery, and boccia, across multiple categories. The Games concluded with an official awards ceremony honouring the winners.
The Children’s Paralympic Games are designed to promote inclusive sports, support the physical and personal development of children with disabilities, and help identify and nurture future Paralympic athletes in Azerbaijan.
Azercell Telecom has supported the Children’s Paralympic Movement since 2014. Through its long-term involvement, the company has helped expand the reach of the National Paralympic Committee and enabled hundreds of children to participate in organised sports. The initiative has contributed not only to the development of Paralympic sports in Azerbaijan, but also to improving participants’ physical well-being, psychological confidence, motivation, and social inclusion.
