Ericsson and Zain Bahrain Expand Strategic Partnership to Launch Advanced 5G Edge Solutions

Ericsson and Zain Bahrain have announced an expanded strategic partnership to introduce advanced 5G capabilities in the Kingdom, centred on Ericsson’s Local Packet Gateway solution with Edge User Plane technology. The deployment marks a key milestone in strengthening Bahrain’s network infrastructure and accelerating the adoption of next-generation digital services.

The new 5G edge solutions are designed to deliver ultra-low latency, improved traffic security, and more resilient connectivity across Zain Bahrain’s network. By enabling faster and smarter data processing closer to end users, the technology will support high-performance use cases for enterprises and government entities, helping them advance digital transformation initiatives and unlock new growth opportunities.

With Edge User Plane capabilities, Zain Bahrain’s network will be able to support Industry 4.0 applications, including AI-powered predictive maintenance, autonomous systems, and real-time industrial monitoring. These capabilities are expected to help organisations streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance overall operational excellence.
