The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned that all mobile SIM cards must be registered in the name of the individual using them, stating that the use of SIMs registered to other people violates telecom regulations. The authority said the registered subscriber will be held fully accountable for any misuse, including calls, messages, or data activity.
In a statement, the PTA emphasized that responsibility for unlawful or unauthorized use rests entirely with the person in whose name the SIM is registered. Subscribers have been advised to ensure responsible use of their telecommunications connections and to verify that all SIMs in their possession are registered under their own identity.
The regulator added that compliance with existing rules is mandatory and that legal or administrative action may be taken against those found in violation. The clarification is part of broader efforts to curb illegal activities facilitated through improperly registered or misused mobile SIMs.
