Alphabet’s Sandbox AQ Secures Government Cyber security Deal in Bahrain

Bahrain is strengthening cybersecurity across its public sector through a new agreement with SandboxAQ, the AI and cybersecurity company spun out of Alphabet. The partnership will see artificial intelligence–driven security tools deployed across more than 60 government ministries to protect sensitive data and critical digital infrastructure.

The initiative centres on SandboxAQ’s AQtive Guard platform, which monitors encryption strength and detects potential vulnerabilities in government systems. The rollout is expected to cover national records, internal communications, and other high-value digital assets used by public institutions.

Bahraini authorities are placing particular emphasis on long-term cyber risks, including those posed by future quantum computing capabilities. Such technologies could eventually break today’s encryption standards, creating the risk that data intercepted now could be decrypted later. By adopting advanced security tools ahead of global regulatory mandates, Bahrain aims to reduce exposure to these emerging threats.

The deal reflects a broader shift among governments toward AI-driven cybersecurity solutions that focus on early detection and prevention rather than reactive defence. SandboxAQ, now operating independently from Alphabet, is increasingly targeting enterprise and government customers seeking next-generation security capabilities.
