NTC Extends 4G Connectivity to Hima Rural Municipality in Jumla

Nepal Telecom (NTC) has launched 4G mobile broadband services in Hima Rural Municipality of Jumla district, bringing modern telecom connectivity to the remote region for the first time. The service went live on December 29, 2025, following the installation of a new mobile tower in Kasturibhid, Hima Rural Municipality–5.

The rollout provides residents with high-speed mobile internet, improved call connectivity, and access to VoLTE-enabled HD voice services. The new network directly covers wards 1 through 7, ending the long-standing challenge faced by locals who previously had to walk for hours and climb hills in search of mobile signals.

Local chairperson Laxmanbahadur Shahi said the project was made possible through close cooperation between the local government and Nepal Telecom, calling it a major step toward improving daily life and supporting the local digital economy. Nepal Telecom’s Jumla Office confirmed that a dedicated technical team installed the equipment and restored services on site.

In a related development, Nepal Telecom has also introduced 4G services in Nagma Bazar using the 1800 MHz band, extending advanced connectivity to border areas between Jumla and Kalikot. The service was activated by linking the Hima-5 tower with the main tower located above Nagma, delivering reliable broadband and voice services for residents, businesses, and public institutions.

As Nepal’s state-owned telecom operator, NTC continues to prioritise network expansion in remote and low-revenue regions. With nationwide 4G coverage exceeding 98 percent, the company is now moving closer to full coverage while preparing for future 5G deployments in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
