PTA commences grant of class licenses for internet services at district level
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has begun issuing Class Licenses for the provision of internet services at the district level, aimed at encouraging local entrepreneurship and expanding broadband access nationwide. The licences will be valid for 10 years, with a one-time initial fee of Rs300,000 and an annual licence fee of Rs100,000 for the first year, increasing by 10 percent annually thereafter.
PTA said applications must be submitted online through its eServices portal, in line with the prescribed checklist. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote digital inclusion, strengthen broadband infrastructure, and support growth in Pakistan’s telecommunications sector.
Separately, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said 2025 marked steady progress in advancing Pakistan’s digital transformation, with improvements in digital infrastructure, connectivity expansion, and an enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, supported by collaboration with local and international stakeholders.
