SCIT Group (Space Communications for Information Technology), a Saudi-based investment group advancing next-generation Air-to-Ground (A2G) in-flight connectivity through its subsidiary SkyFive Arabia, has signed an agreement with Omantel to introduce A2G-based in-flight connectivity (IFC) services in the Sultanate of Oman.
Under the agreement, both parties will jointly introduce and promote A2G in-flight connectivity technology across Oman. The collaboration includes the joint development of hybrid A2G and satellite-based connectivity solutions with extended offshore coverage, targeting multiple aviation segments ranging from commercial airlines to private and VVIP aircraft.
The partnership also covers the execution and demonstration of ultra-high-throughput A2G capabilities through a jointly defined proof of concept. This will leverage Omantel’s advanced national network infrastructure to demonstrate the performance and potential of next-generation IFC services.
Through this collaboration, Omantel and SCIT aim to accelerate the deployment of high-performance, low-latency in-flight internet across the country, positioning Oman among the region’s early adopters of next-generation aviation connectivity. The initiative further strengthens Omantel’s role as a driver of innovation and digital transformation across the Middle East.
