Nepal Telecom to connect 1 Gbps FTTH in Omsatiya Rural Municipality

Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Omsatiya Rural Municipality in Rupandehi have signed an agreement to expand services and promote digital connectivity at the local level.

The agreement was signed by Hari Dhakal, Director of the NT Provincial Directorate in Bhairahawa, on behalf of Nepal Telecom, and Krishna Prasad Panthi, Chief Administrative Officer, on behalf of the rural municipality. Omsatiya Rural Municipality Chairman Manjit Kumar Yadav (Sonu) was also present at the signing.

Under the agreement, NTC will roll out its FTTH (Fiber to the Home) services in three phases across the municipality. In the first phase, Omsatiya Rural Municipality will be connected with 1 Gbps fiber internet capacity.

In the second phase, high-speed internet will be extended to ward offices and health posts. The third phase will focus on providing FTTH connections to community schools within the local body.

In parallel, the rural municipality has committed to gradually connecting its subordinate institutions to Nepal Telecom’s services, ensuring consistent and reliable access across public facilities.

The initiative is part of Nepal Telecom’s broader effort to bring high-quality internet to every corner of the country. While NT Fiber is already available in 77 districts, several local levels and institutions still lack reliable connectivity. As a government-backed operator, NTC is working to bridge these gaps by extending modern broadband services to public service sectors nationwide.
