Libyan Telecoms Holding Co. signs MoU with US company KBR to develop infrastructure and 5G networks

The Chairman of the Libyan Post, Telecommunications and Information Company (LPTIC), Ali Bin Gharbia, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with US-based engineering and infrastructure firm KBR Inc. to advance Libya’s telecommunications infrastructure and accelerate the development of 5G networks.

The agreement was signed on January 23 in the presence of LPTIC’s board advisor and senior officials from relevant departments. KBR brings global expertise in engineering consulting, large-scale infrastructure delivery, data centers, and cybersecurity, with a strong track record in strategic telecom projects worldwide.

Discussions focused on cooperation, partnership, and joint investment to modernize Libya’s digital backbone. Both parties agreed to continue technical coordination and hold follow-up meetings to finalize implementation frameworks, paving the way for practical execution.

Bin Gharbia said the MoU represents a key step in LPTIC’s strategy to build international partnerships, enable knowledge transfer, and deploy advanced technologies. He added that the collaboration will strengthen sector readiness for future demands and deliver sustainable value to Libya’s national infrastructure.

This move aligns with Libya’s broader efforts to improve service quality, expand digital connectivity, and prepare the market for next-generation networks.
