Tata Communications, a leading global digital ecosystem enabler, has appointed Ganesh Lakshminarayanan as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer-Designate of Tata Communications Limited.
Ganesh brings more than three decades of international management experience across multinational corporations, B2B start-ups, and Indian enterprises. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for ServiceNow India and SAARC, where he led market expansion and growth for the enterprise software major.
Prior to ServiceNow, Ganesh was CEO of Airtel Business in India and earlier led Airtel’s Enterprise Business unit. Under his leadership, the enterprise business received the Chairman’s Award for Best Business Unit in FY23, delivering 50 percent growth over three years and expanding market share from 30 percent to 33 percent.
Academically, Ganesh holds an MBA with high distinction from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Guindy Engineering College in Chennai, graduating as a gold medalist.
He has been elected twice to the NASSCOM Executive Council and has served on the FICCI Council. Ganesh is also a founding member of Social Venture Partners Bengaluru.
The appointment is subject to regulatory approvals. Following these approvals, the Board of Tata Communications will formally appoint Ganesh as Managing Director and CEO. He will succeed A. S. Lakshminarayanan, who is set to retire on April 13, 2026.
N. G. Subramaniam, Chairman of Tata Communications, said the selection followed a rigorous process led by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. He noted that Ganesh’s experience across global businesses, automation, AI, digital transformation, enterprise relationships, and large deals aligns strongly with Tata Communications’ strategic direction and growth momentum.
Ganesh Lakshminarayanan said he was grateful for the Board’s trust and honoured to serve an institution with such a strong legacy. He added that he looks forward to building on the company’s customer-centric culture, investing in its people, and executing its strategy with focus and discipline.
