Astranis and MB Group Partner on Oman’s First Dedicated Micro GEO Satellite

Astranis and The MB Group have announced a strategic agreement to deploy Oman’s first dedicated MicroGEO satellite, contracted as part of Astranis’ Block 3 launch scheduled for later this year.

The partnership represents a significant expansion of satellite broadband capacity across the Middle East, delivering reliable, high-performance connectivity to governments, enterprises, and communities. The agreement forms part of a $200 million investment by MB Group aligned with Oman Vision 2040, covering the dedicated satellite, ground stations, and supporting digital infrastructure.

The deployment will give the Sultanate sovereign control over its satellite connectivity, strengthening national digital resilience and enabling next-generation services across multiple sectors.

MB Group Vice Chairperson Usama Al Barwani said the collaboration supports Oman’s transition to a digital-first economy while marking the group’s continued diversification into advanced technologies, including AI-enabled IoT monitoring and uninterrupted in-flight connectivity solutions.

Astranis CEO John Gedmark noted that the partnership reflects the company’s mission to deliver dedicated satellite capacity where it can have the greatest impact, accelerating critical connectivity in Oman and across the wider region.
