Starlink has officially launched its satellite internet service in Senegal, marking the latest step in SpaceX’s continued expansion across Africa as it aims to improve connectivity in underserved and remote regions.
The company confirmed the launch on Wednesday, announcing that its high-speed, low-latency internet service is now available in the country. The announcement was shared through a post on X, highlighting Starlink’s ongoing mission to extend reliable internet access beyond traditional ground infrastructure.
Operated by SpaceX, Starlink delivers broadband connectivity through a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites designed to provide coverage in areas where conventional telecom networks remain limited or difficult to deploy. The service has seen rapid global growth and is now operational in more than 150 countries and territories worldwide.
Since entering the African market in 2023, Starlink has expanded its footprint significantly, becoming active in more than 20 countries across the continent as demand grows for alternative connectivity solutions capable of supporting digital inclusion and economic development.
