Jordan, Syria sign deal in ICT, postal services

Jordan’s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) and Syria’s Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation across telecommunications, information technology and postal services.

The agreement focuses on developing digital infrastructure, improving service quality and enhancing regulatory coordination between the two countries. Key areas of cooperation include coordination on radio spectrum use in border areas to reduce interference, regulation of telecommunications equipment imports, and improved oversight of postal and parcel delivery services.

The MoU also covers cybersecurity collaboration through the exchange of expertise and best practices to address illegal network usage and strengthen protection against cyber threats. Additional areas include consumer protection, regulatory enforcement, digital transformation initiatives and knowledge sharing through workshops and technical exchanges aligned with international standards.

Officials from both sides described the agreement as a strategic step toward advancing digital development and supporting sustainable economic and social growth through stronger ICT cooperation.
