Nepal Telecom has introduced an online KYC update portal for GSM prepaid users, allowing customers to digitally update or correct their SIM registration details as part of efforts to strengthen identity verification and reduce fraudulent SIM usage.
Launched to mark the operator’s 22nd anniversary, the portal enables users to verify ownership through a one-time password and by submitting details such as frequently called numbers from the past two months. A final in-person visit is still required to complete verification and confirm identity.
The initiative is aimed at improving regulatory compliance, enhancing customer data accuracy, and strengthening safeguards against misuse of SIM cards, aligning with broader regional efforts to tighten digital identity and telecom security frameworks.
