stc Group to Deploy 4,500 km Fibre Network and Data Centers in Syria via Silklink

stc Group has announced the implementation of the Silklink project in Syria following a competitive bidding process involving several regional telecommunications players. The initiative represents an investment exceeding SAR 3 billion and aims to significantly strengthen the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.

The project includes the deployment of a 4,500-kilometre fibre-optic network, the development of data centres, and the establishment of international submarine cable landing stations. The infrastructure is designed to improve data transmission capacity, reliability, and connectivity, enabling telecom operators to deliver advanced communication services while supporting cloud computing, Internet of Things applications, and broader digital services.

Silklink forms part of stc Group’s wider strategy to expand cross-border digital infrastructure and strengthen regional connectivity between Arab, Asian, and European markets. The project is expected to enhance internet quality in Syria while supporting long-term digital transformation and positioning stc as a key regional digital enabler.
