Vodafone Egypt has secured additional spectrum in Egypt’s latest auction conducted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), acquiring 2 x 10MHz in the 1,800MHz band and renewing its ownership of the 2,600MHz spectrum.
The multi-million-dollar agreement will be paid in four annual instalments, beginning with a US$100 million payment in FY26. The additional spectrum is expected to significantly enhance network capacity, enabling Vodafone Egypt to improve data performance and support rising demand for reliable voice and mobile data services across the country.
The acquisition forms part of Egypt’s broader telecom development roadmap, with further spectrum releases planned between FY28 and FY32, including allocations in the 3,500MHz band. The expansion supports continued growth in 4G usage while preparing the market for more advanced mobile services in the coming years.
Egypt’s rapidly expanding mobile and digital ecosystem, combined with high mobile penetration and increasing financial inclusion, continues to create opportunities for digital services and mobile-based payments, including the growing adoption of direct carrier billing for consumer and government transactions.
