Nokia, Tech964 to modernize Iraq’s digital infrastructure

Technology and infrastructure investment group Tech964 has partnered with Nokia to advance the modernization of Iraq’s telecommunications and digital infrastructure, supporting the country’s growing demand for high-capacity connectivity and digital services.

Announced during Datacloud Middle East 2026 in Dubai, the partnership will focus on delivering advanced connectivity solutions including corporate networks, data centers, global transit capabilities, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services. The initiative combines Nokia’s global network technology expertise with Tech964’s local operational capabilities to strengthen Iraq’s digital ecosystem.

The collaboration aims to enhance network reliability, security, and scalability as demand for internet services increases across both public and private sectors. Growth in digital banking, e-government platforms, cloud adoption, and enterprise automation has accelerated the need for resilient infrastructure capable of supporting long-term digital development.

By improving international fiber transit operations and strengthening network resilience, the partnership also seeks to position Iraq as an emerging regional data corridor connecting the Gulf, Turkey, and Europe. Iraq’s geographic location provides strategic advantages for international carriers and enterprise traffic seeking diversified connectivity routes across the region.

The expansion of FTTH infrastructure forms a key component of the initiative, supporting efforts to bridge the digital divide while enabling broader participation in the digital economy. The project aligns with Iraq’s wider efforts to diversify economic activity and expand digital services through improved telecommunications infrastructure.
