Bahrain has announced the launch of its National Aviation Strategy (2026–2027), aimed at strengthening the civil aviation sector and increasing its contribution to economic growth in alignment with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. The initiative focuses on enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a regional and global aviation hub through coordinated public and private sector collaboration.
The strategy seeks to develop an integrated aviation ecosystem aligned with international standards while transforming Bahrain International Airport into a centre of excellence for commercial and private aviation, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and logistics services. Authorities also aim to expand the country’s air connectivity network, increasing destinations served from 66 to 100 by 2030 to support tourism, trade, and investment flows.
Implementation of the strategy is built around three core pillars: strengthening regulatory excellence and governance to maintain safety and efficiency, enhancing operational services to improve competitiveness, and investing in infrastructure, sustainability initiatives, and national talent development. The framework includes defined initiatives and performance indicators to monitor progress and ensure effective execution.
During the launch event, a Letter of Intent was signed between the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, BeOnd Airline, and The Helicopter Company, supporting expanded air connectivity and reinforcing Bahrain’s aviation and logistics ecosystem. Officials said the strategy reflects a market-driven approach designed to respond to evolving industry demand while creating high-quality employment opportunities for Bahraini citizens.
