Ericsson and specialized by stc have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance the development of mission-critical communication capabilities aimed at strengthening Saudi Arabia’s national public safety ecosystem.
The agreement, signed during the World Defense Show in Riyadh, brings together specialized by stc’s nationwide digital infrastructure and Ericsson’s expertise in secure, high-availability network technologies. The collaboration focuses on enabling reliable, real-time communication tools designed to support emergency response operations, including mission-critical push-to-talk and push-to-video services, AI-enabled incident analytics, and high-precision location capabilities.
The initiative is designed to enhance coordination and operational efficiency for first responders such as police, ambulance services, civil protection teams, and emergency management authorities. By integrating Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and smart-vehicle systems into unified communication frameworks, the partnership aims to support faster decision-making, improved situational awareness, and more effective response during critical incidents.
Ericsson and specialized by stc will also conduct joint validation programs and field trials to simulate high-demand emergency scenarios. These trials are intended to ensure secure, resilient, and uninterrupted communication performance under challenging operational conditions, reinforcing the reliability requirements essential for mission-critical environments.
The collaboration reflects broader efforts to strengthen national readiness through advanced digital infrastructure and secure connectivity solutions. By combining network innovation with operational expertise, both organizations aim to contribute to the Kingdom’s ongoing digital transformation and public safety modernization initiatives aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.
Khaled Aldharrab, Chief Executive Officer of specialized by stc, said the collaboration represents an important step in enhancing national public safety capabilities through improved coordination and resilient communication systems that support frontline responders.
Håkan Cervell, President of Ericsson Saudi Arabia, noted that the partnership combines Ericsson’s expertise in secure network solutions with specialized by stc’s infrastructure to strengthen mission-critical communications and support public safety operations across the Kingdom.
