MBRSC and Sharjah Digital Department partner to advance GIS collaboration

Dubai, UAE — The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) to strengthen collaboration in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), supporting the development of integrated digital services and data-driven decision-making across government entities.

Under the agreement, both organisations will work on developing a dedicated GIS dashboard and delivering specialised training programmes for their respective teams. The partnership also focuses on capacity building, knowledge exchange, and the joint use of geospatial data and aerial imagery to enhance operational capabilities and support more efficient public service delivery.

The collaboration aims to leverage MBRSC’s expertise in satellite data and geospatial technologies alongside SDD’s digital government initiatives to enable smarter planning and improved analytical capabilities. By integrating high-resolution satellite imagery and GIS solutions, the initiative is expected to support strategic planning, infrastructure management, and broader digital transformation objectives within Sharjah.

Officials noted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between local and federal entities while advancing the use of emerging technologies in government operations. The initiative aligns with wider efforts across the UAE to build integrated digital ecosystems that utilize advanced data capabilities to deliver proactive and community-focused services.

MBRSC, a key institution within the UAE’s national space programme, continues to expand the application of space and geospatial technologies beyond space exploration into practical use cases that support sustainable development and innovation across sectors.
