Algeria to host ‘Global Africa Tech 2026’ to boost continental digital integration

ALGIERS — Algeria is preparing to host Global Africa Tech 2026 next month, a continental technology summit aimed at accelerating digital transformation and strengthening connectivity across Africa. The event will take place at the International Conference Center in Algiers under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and global technology companies.

Organised by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in partnership with Algeria Telecom, the summit is positioned as a strategic platform to advance digital integration across the continent while reinforcing Algeria’s ambition to become a regional hub for technological innovation. Officials said the initiative reflects a broader national vision focused on supporting Africa’s digital economy and enabling stronger cross-border collaboration.

According to Minister of Post and Telecommunications Sid Ali Zerrouki, the event aligns with efforts to build a digitally unified Africa through infrastructure integration and technology collaboration. The summit’s theme, “All Networks, One Convergence,” highlights a strategic focus on integrating terrestrial, satellite, and submarine network infrastructure to create a secure, modern, and sustainable communications ecosystem capable of supporting long-term economic growth.

Discussions during the event are expected to focus on expanding terrestrial infrastructure, accelerating fiber optic deployment, and improving data flow and service quality across African markets. The summit will also address broader challenges related to connectivity, digital inclusion, and infrastructure investment as countries across the continent seek to strengthen their positions in the global digital economy.

Global Africa Tech 2026 is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants from 45 countries, including around 50 ministers and senior decision-makers, alongside representatives from major global technology companies and telecommunications stakeholders. The gathering underscores increasing continental momentum toward coordinated digital infrastructure development and regional technology cooperation.
