Robi earns record profit in 2025 on lower operating costs

DHAKA – 20 February 2026: Robi Axiata reported a record net profit of Tk 9.37 billion in 2025, marking a more than 33% year-on-year increase, supported by lower operating costs and a reduced impact from currency devaluation.

The second-largest telecom operator in Bangladesh recorded marginal revenue growth of 1% to Tk 99.92 billion, as voice revenue continued to decline amid sustained inflation and challenging macroeconomic conditions.

Ziad Shatara, Managing Director and CEO of Robi Axiata, said the company achieved positive revenue growth despite shrinking voice income, driven by strong data revenue performance. Growth was supported by significant additions of data and 4G users, alongside higher data consumption per subscriber.

Robi’s active subscriber base rose to 57.4 million by the end of 2025, with a net addition of 0.7 million subscribers during the year. Of the total base, 44.5 million users, or 77.5%, were data subscribers, while 69.5% were 4G users—the highest proportions among operators in Bangladesh.

The company invested Tk 13.04 billion in 2025 to expand and strengthen its network. By year-end, Robi’s total 4G sites reached 19,000, providing coverage to 99% of the population. The operator was also the first in Bangladesh to launch 5G services in September 2025 and is working to develop the broader 5G ecosystem.

Robi declared a 17.5% cash dividend for 2025, the highest since its listing in 2020, equivalent to 98% of annual profit.

The company contributed Tk 62.01 billion to the government exchequer during the year, representing 62% of its revenue, through taxes and related payments. However, management noted that a high tax burden continues to challenge industry growth.

Despite the record earnings, Robi’s share price fell 2.22% to Tk 30.8 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange following the results announcement.
